AHMAD FARAZ  (The Great Urdu Poet 1931-2008)

Early Life

Urdu poetry is most of the dominant properties of times and has many different types and shapes. Poetry is an important part of Nazm. It has generated roots from Arabian and Persian. Urdu poetry has two main types Gazal and Nazam.  Ahmad faraz was the greatest Pakistan urdu poet. He was born Syed Ahmad Shah on January 12,1993 in Kohat. He was the great modern poets of the last Islamic century. He belongs to the respectable family of  Syed, descendants of “Haji Bahadar ” a famous saints of Kohat. His brother name was Syed Masoor Kausar. Faraz is his ‘Takhalus’ in poetry. Faraz holds a unique position as one of the best poets of the current times. He has simple style of writing even a common people can easily understand it. He moved to Peshawar with his entire family. Then he studied in a famous Edward college, Peshawar. He does not like mathematics and geography. Then he did his masters in Urdu and Persian from Peshawar university. Later, he became lecturer at Peshawar University.

Legend of poetry

During college life, Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Sardar Ali Jafari were the best poets, who impressed him and became his role model.

About Literary Life :

Ahmad Faraz compared with Faiz Ahmad Faiz. In his an interview he recalls his father, how his father once bought clothes On Eid. But he does not like that clothes, and he preferred it for his elder brother. This led him to his first couplet:

“Sab k wasty laye hai Kapre sale se ,

Laye Hai Mere Liye Qaidi ka kambal jail se”


He was awarded by different medals. He was awarded by  Hilal-e-Imtiaz , Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2004, because of his literary achievments. And after his death he was awarded by Hilal-e- Pakistan by the government.

About Political Life:

In the era of Zia-ul-Haq he was arrested for writing some poems against Military Rulers in Pakistan. Before returning to Pakistan he stayed in Europe and Canada for six years, where he was appointed at Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters and then he appointed at Chairperson of Islamabad based National Book Foundation for several years. In 2006, he returned his Hilal-e-Imtiaz that is given to him in 2004.

Death:

Faraz died on 25 August,2008 because of his Kidney failure in a local Islamabad Hospital. He was buried at the evening of 26 by many admirers and government officials at H-8  Graveyard, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Suna Hai Log Bohat Yaad Karte Hy, Chale Jane K Bad”
